Slow drains, backed-up sinks, gurgling tubs and clogged main lines cleared — usually the same day. Licensed plumbers serving Erie, Huron, Sandusky, Ottawa and Seneca Counties.
Grease, food waste and soap buildup are the number one cause of kitchen clogs. Cabled or jetted clean, not just poked open.
Hair, toothpaste and soap scum bind into the trap and tailpiece. Cleared and the P-trap cleaned out properly.
Standing water at your ankles usually means hair packed at the drum trap or further down the branch line.
Wipes, hygiene products and toys. If plunging isn’t doing it, we’ll auger it or pull the toilet to clear the blockage without cracking the bowl.
Basement and laundry room floor drains, especially in older Sandusky and Norwalk homes where they tie into cast iron.
When multiple fixtures back up at once, the problem is the main. We cable it, then camera it to find the cause.
Lint and detergent buildup restricting the standpipe or the branch line.
Leaves, silt and root intrusion clogging exterior drainage.
A slow drain is annoying. A backed-up main line is a genuine problem — sewage in the basement, every fixture in the house out of service, and a mess nobody wants to deal with. Either way, the fix is the same: find out what’s actually blocking the line and clear it properly, not just push a chemical down it and hope.
Bakers Plumbing & Contracting provides drain cleaning across Sandusky, Huron, Norwalk, Milan, Bellevue, Fremont, Port Clinton, Vermilion and the surrounding Northern Ohio communities. We run professional cable machines and hydro jetting equipment, and when a drain keeps clogging we put a camera down the line to find out why.
Tell us which fixture, whether more than one is affected, and how long it’s been happening.
We identify whether it’s a local clog or a main line issue, and locate the right access point.
You get the number up front, including whether cabling or jetting is the right call.
Scheduled dates, one crew, and a clean site at the end of every day. You’ll know who’s coming and when.
Drain Cabling (Snaking) A motorized cable machine with the correct cutting head bores through the blockage and restores flow. This is the workhorse for most sink, tub, toilet and main line clogs, and it’s usually the fastest and most economical option.
Hydro Jetting High-pressure water scours the inside walls of the pipe clean — grease, sludge, scale and root hair included. Cabling opens a channel through a blockage. Jetting removes the buildup entirely, which is why it lasts longer on kitchen lines and grease-heavy mains.
Sewer Camera Inspection If a drain keeps clogging, the clog isn’t the problem — something is causing it. A camera down the line shows roots, cracks, a bellied section, offset joints or a foreign object, and tells us exactly how far down it sits. You see the footage too.
Root Cutting and Sewer Repair Clay tile laterals under mature trees are common in older Northern Ohio neighborhoods. We cut the roots to restore flow, then use the camera to show you whether maintenance will hold it or whether the line needs repair or replacement.
Available 24/7. We arrive within the hour.

If you’ve had the same drain cleared more than once in a year, something structural is going on. The most common causes we find around Sandusky, Huron, Norwalk and Fremont:
Tree roots in clay sewer laterals. Older homes in this region are still on clay tile with mortar joints. Roots find moisture, work into the joints, and grow into a mat that catches everything flushed past it. Cutting restores flow; a camera tells you whether that’s a yearly maintenance job or time for a replacement.
Cast iron drain lines that have scaled over. Decades of buildup narrows a 4-inch line to an effective 2 inches. It’ll clog on a schedule until it’s jetted clean or replaced.
Bellied or sagging lines. Ground settling leaves a low spot where waste and water sit instead of flowing. Nothing you pour down the drain fixes that.
Grease down the kitchen sink. It goes down warm and hardens on the pipe walls a few feet in. Northern Ohio’s hard water accelerates it, because grease and mineral scale build up together.
Flushable wipes. They aren’t flushable. They’re the single most common cause of the main line clogs we clear.
Why chemical drain cleaner makes it worse: it can eat a narrow channel through soft clogs, but it does nothing to roots, scale or hardened grease — and repeated use damages older cast iron and rubber seals. The clog comes back with a pipe in worse shape.
It depends on which line, how accessible it is, and whether it needs cabling or hydro jetting. We quote it on-site before starting so there are no surprises on the invoice.
Usually, yes. Same-day drain cleaning is one of our most common calls. Call [PHONE] and we’ll tell you honestly when we can be there.
Cabling bores a hole through the blockage and restores flow — fast and effective for most clogs. Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the pipe walls completely clean, removing the grease, scale and root hair that cause the clog to return. Jetting costs more and lasts longer.
Because something is causing it — roots in the lateral, scale in cast iron, a bellied line, or a broken section. A camera inspection identifies it so you can fix the cause instead of paying for the same clearing every few months.
We’d rather you didn’t. It rarely touches roots, scale or hardened grease, and repeated use corrodes older cast iron pipe and rubber seals. It also makes the line more hazardous for the plumber who opens it afterward.
That’s a main sewer line clog. Stop running water immediately — every gallon you send down pushes sewage toward the lowest fixture in the house. Call [PHONE].
Yes, and we recommend one any time a drain clogs repeatedly, before you buy an older home, or before anyone quotes you a sewer replacement. You see the footage.
Very. A lot of older neighborhoods in Sandusky, Norwalk, Fremont and Vermilion sit on clay tile laterals with mature trees overhead. It’s one of the most frequent causes of recurring main line clogs we find.
It can. Standing waste accelerates corrosion in cast iron, pressure from repeated plunging can loosen joints, and a backup can push water into finished basements. Clearing it early is cheaper than the alternative.
